Korean Air to Introduce the Tenth Airbus A380

SEOUL, Korea (July 29, 2014) – Korean Air, South Korea’s flagship airline, will add a tenth A380 aircraft to its fleet on 29 July. The latest A380 will go through the required tests in Korea before making its debut flight to Atlanta on August 3.

Korean Air operates fourteen A380 flights a week between both Incheon-Los Angeles and Incheon-New York and also seven flights a week between Incheon-Paris. The carrier also operates the A380 on the Incheon-Atlanta route, strengthening competitiveness on long haul business routes.

Configured in a three-class layout with just 407 seats in total, Korean Air provides the ultimate comfort to passengers onboard its ‘hotel in the sky’.

Korean Air’s A380 has 301 seats in economy class, the lowest configuration of any A380 operator so far, providing the most spacious pitch of 34 inches. The ergonomically designed ‘New Economy’ seats provide the utmost comfort to passengers on long haul flights.

Korean Air took the bold step of being the first global carrier to devote an entire upper deck of the large aircraft to a single class. 94 fully flat ‘Prestige Sleeper’ seats are located on the upper deck of the A380 in Prestige Class (business class) providing an experience that can be likened to a business class only aircraft.

And for the ultimate experience twelve ultra-luxurious First Class Kosmo Suites are located at the front of the lower deck and provide passengers with independent space, whilst also ensuring total privacy.

Korean Air’s ‘Duty Free Showcase’ is located at the back of the lower deck and features a variety of duty-free products with a dedicated cabin crew member on hand to assist and advise passengers with all their shopping needs.

The very relaxing ‘Celestial Bar’ is a dedicated area of the A380 aircraft where passengers can sample Korean Air’s exclusive cocktails during their flight. Six exceptional cocktails feature at the bar, chosen following a special cocktail tasting event carried out by the airline for VIP customers.

Other bars are located on each floor at the front of the aircraft, by the Prestige and First Class cabins and passengers can help themselves to a range of beverages and have some time away from their seat.

Korean Air’s first A380 was delivered in June 2011 and the delivery of the tenth finalizes the order. The A380 aircraft will be deployed on long-haul routes to the US and Europe providing the ultimate in passenger comfort.

Korean Air serves Australian premium wine “Haselgrove Col Cross Shiraz” on the Oceania routes’ first class

Seoul (July 25, 2014) – Korean Air’s first class passengers can now enjoy the rich flavor and taste of the Australian premium wine.

Starting 29 July, Korean Air will serve one of the finest Australian wines, “Col Cross Shiraz” for the first class passengers on the Oceania routes, including Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Nadi. The airline is also serving French and Californian wines currently on these routes.

“Col Cross Shiraz” was born in Haselgrove Winery in McLaren Vale, an internationally renowned wine region in South Australia accounting for 48% of all wines produced in Australia.

“Col Cross Shiraz” features a deep garnet-purple color and gives pronounced wild berry notes with hints of smoked cured meat and raw wood spice with a hint of chocolate. Medium-bodied with layers of black fruit and earthy flavors on offer in the mouth, the “Col Cross Shiraz” has a solid backbone of firm chewy tannins and refreshing acid, finishing long and peppery.

Col Cross Shiraz”” is made from the best small-sized grapes containing a lot of sugar, which have grown on Haselgrove’s single cultivar Shiraz vines dating back more than 60 years. It is matured for almost 18 months in oak barrels to allow for fruit expression and complimenting oak tannin and flavor. It is also appreciated for its various and mixed aroma which you can feel only from the aged grapes variety.

The newly introduced “Col Cross McLaren Vale Single Vineyard Shiraz 2011” is best known as one of the Australia’s Cult Wines recommended by Robert Parker’s “Wine Advocate”. Cult Wines are regarded as trophy wines which produced in limited quantities, with great reviews by wine critics.

Korean Air purchased 600 bottles of “Col Cross Shiraz 2011” out of the 1221 bottles produced in 2011.

In addition to the introduction of “Col Cross Shiraz”,  Korean Air’s first and business class passengers on international routes have been enjoying one of the finest champagnes in the world – Perrier-Jouët from 2 December 2013.
